Razorback Marching Band
The 335 member Razorback Marching Band is one of the largest student organizations on the University of Arkansas campus, and is the cornerstone of the four U of A Athletic Bands. Known as "The Best in Sight and Sound," the RMB often performs for sell-out crowds at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas, and each fall at the annual "Southwest Classic" in Cowboys Stadium when the Razorbacks play the Texas A&M Aggies. In 2006 the John Phillip Sousa Foundation awarded the Razorback Marching Band with the prestigious "Sudler Trophy," an annual award recognizing one university band for "the highest musical standards and innovative marching routines and ideas."
The Razorback Marching Band recently performed at the 2015 AutoZone Liberty Bowl Football Classic, the 2014 AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl, the 2012 AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic in Cowboys Stadium, and the 2011 BCS Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. In previous years the band has performed at many other bowl games including the Fiesta, Orange, Cotton, Gator, Citrus, Liberty, Holiday, Independence, Capital One, Carquest, Hall of Fame, Dixie, Bluebonnet, and Las Vegas bowls as well as performing half-time shows at Dallas Cowboys football games.
The Razorback Marching Band takes an active role in supporting some of the most popular athletic traditions at the U of A. The band participates in Friday night pep rallies held in the outdoor Greek Theatre and forms the traditional "Big A" on the football field during pregame shows. Many former Razorback Band members return each fall to perform as a member of the Razorback Alumni Band for Homecoming.
